SHM data (December 5, 2010)
This set concerns the accelerations measured by two sensors of the SHM system installed in the library tower of the Engineering School of Bologna University during a small seismic event with magnitude 3.2 observed at a depth of 15 Km in the area of Castel San Pietro Terme, at 28 Km from Bologna. Sensor #1 is located at the 14th floor of the tower, sensor #2 at the 12th floor. The axes of the sensors coincide with those of the tower. The building of the Engineering School has been designed by the Italian architect Giuseppe Vaccaro and was built between 1933 and 1935. The tower has an height of 45 meters and is actually an archive holding over 60,000 volumes. Its structure is characterized by 4 rectangular columns that support nine concrete slabs.
The data refer to:
  • Sensing unit #1 - X axis
  • Sensing unit #1 - Y axis
  • Sensing unit #2 - X axis
  • Sensing unit #2 - Y axis
